Here at Spinnaker we were astonished at the response we got when we asked how the role of the superintendent is changing on LinkedIn.

The response was so huge that we ran a session on it at the Maritime HR Forum annual conference in London this June, and we also wrote an article in the Nautilus Telegraph about this thorny issue. What we noticed that particularly sparked debate was whether a superintendent should have been to sea or not…

The debate continues to rage, and we understand that there are two sides to every story. But we have to say, it's been fascinating to learn not only people's opinions on the matter, but that they're willing to express their thoughts on sites such as LinkedIn. It's a great platform for debate, that's for sure.
