Last spaces left for the OSCAR Dragon Boat Race

It’s only April, but the OSCAR Dragon Boat Race 2019 in September is already proving so popular, we only have space for 10 more teams!

The annual Race, which is this year the finale event of London International Shipping Week on Friday 13 September, is already shaping up to be one of the biggest yet, with teams already confirmed including Hill Dickinson, Swire Bulk, Waves Group, Borealis, Liberian Registry, Union Maritime, NEPIA, BDO LLP, C Solutions, and event hosts Spinnaker Global.

If you’re new to the event, here are the answers to two FAQs:
1. No, you don’t need any training or experience. Ten rowers and a drummer who’ve never set foot in a boat before can turn up, join in and have fun.
2. Shipping is a significant funder of research (£1.84m and counting) that has already produced new treatments for childhood cancers and immune diseases via the OSCAR Campaign. The up-front cost is £500 to register, plus a pledge to raise £5,000 in sponsorship.

Don’t miss out on these final team spaces which will go fast! Last year the event was full. The teams raised £151k and partied until late. We’ll have a live band adding to the fun; the party atmosphere is guaranteed again this year. Sponsorship opportunities are still available (the bar, the boat flags, the music etc) – just get in touch if you’re interested in sponsoring.

Don’t want to race, or not got enough coworkers for a team? You can still attend for a donation straight to the OSCAR Campaign on the day.
