Maritime in the UAE

01 December 2017

HR Consulting from Spinnaker Global will be heading to Dubai in January to deliver the workshop element of their popular Maritime Leadership Development Programme.

This IMarEST accredited programme aims to create leaders of the future and improve management and leadership capabilities within maritime businesses.

The programme is delivered over a 5 month period in the following stages:
• Pre-programme assessment with personality profiling
• 2 day workshop – leadership skills development - 31st Jan and 1st Feb 2018
• One to one coaching support

Over the last 12 months, 34 maritime professionals have benefited from attending our leadership programmes with feedback including:
• “Has to be recommended to all”
• “I am a changed person - I have goals and needed to change my approach …….I have made subtle changes in my behaviour and am having better results”
• “The programme came at the right time for me, transitioning from sea to shore, expanding to a different world where I am not constrained by the limits of the ship”

The investment per participant on the programme is £3,250 and spaces are limited. Contact us for more information

Whilst in the region HR Consulting will also be hosting one of our popular networking events for the maritime industry held in association with Clyde & Co. on the 30th January.

Karen Waltham, MD of HR Consulting will share an update on recent activities within her organisation which include the continuation of salary benchmarking for shore-based roles through the Maritime HR Association, the expansion of the Maritime Leadership Development programmes and the launch of Wage Cost Benchmarking for Seafarers and Career Development programme for Women in Maritime.

Clyde & Co will be presenting the Vision 2021 initiative and also information from the Gender Balance Council which is responsible for developing and implementing the gender balance agenda in the United Arab Emirates.
The country is making steady progress to realise its’ vision of becoming one of the top 25 countries for gender equality by 2021.

These initiatives also support the work we are doing to promote women within the maritime industry.
Indeed findings from the Maritime HR Association show that globally, women represent 36% of the shore-based maritime workforce. However, we see the majority of these female employees working at Administrative, Junior and Professional level with very few reaching managerial level and above.
