About the Role:
We are looking to hire a highly skilled and experienced Shipping Procurement Manager to join a global team. This role is pivotal in overseeing the procurement of goods, services, and supplies essential for vessel operations.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement, supply chain management, and maritime industry practices, with a proven ability to manage supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, and ensure cost-effective purchasing while maintaining compliance with maritime regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement Strategy & Supplier Management:
- Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimize cost, quality, and efficiency.
- Create frameworks to streamline supplier management for third-party managers.
- Identify, evaluate, and manage suppliers to ensure reliable and cost-effective sourcing.
- Negotiate contracts and establish long-term partnerships with key vendors.
Purchasing & Contract Management:
- Oversee the procurement of ship spare parts, provisions, fuel, lubricants, and technical equipment.
- Manage purchase orders, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budgets.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and international maritime standards.
- Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues related to pricing, delivery, or quality.
Cost Control & Budgeting:
- Monitor and control procurement costs to meet financial targets.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and optimize procurement processes.
- Stay updated on market rates and supplier trends.
- Ensure accurate reporting of procurement expenses and forecasts.
Compliance & Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with international maritime procurement regulations (e.g., IMPA, SOLAS, MARPOL).
- Conduct risk assessments to mitigate potential supply chain disruptions.
- Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices.
Coordination & Stakeholder Communication:
- Collaborate with third-party managers, technical teams, and finance departments to meet operational needs.
- Maintain clear communication with internal and external stakeholders regarding procurement processes.
Key Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Maritime Studies, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5+ years of procurement experience in the shipping or maritime industry.
- Strong negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship skills.
- Knowledge of international shipping regulations and procurement best practices.
- Experience with procurement software (e.g., ShipServ, AMOS, SAP, or similar platforms).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple procurement projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in procurement (CIPS, CPSM, or equivalent).
- Experience in marine procurement.
