About the Role:
A leading, forward-thinking shipping company is hiring an experienced Marine Manager to join their team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the effective management of ISM/HSEQ systems, compliance with international and flag state regulations, and the overall safety and performance of the fleet.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintaining and enhancing the company’s ISM/HSEQ management systems.
- Ensuring compliance with international regulations (ISM Code, ISPS Code, MARPOL, MLC).
- Conducting internal and external audits, investigations, and incident reporting.
- Overseeing vessel emissions data collection and reporting (EEXI, CII regulations).
- Providing guidance and support to shipboard personnel on HSEQ matters.
- Monitoring safety performance data, identifying trends, and implementing corrective actions.
- Liaising with third-party crewing providers to ensure safe and compliant crew management.
- Representing the company at industry forums and with relevant authorities.
- Regularly visiting vessels to ensure optimization for commercial requirements.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior management role within the maritime industry, with a strong focus on ISM, HSEQ, and Marine Operations.
- Preferably, experience in dry cargo shipping with Capesize vessels and familiarity with major global ports.
- A proven track record in managing ISM/HSEQ systems and conducting audits.
- In-depth knowledge of international maritime regulations.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent spoken and written English; German language skills are an advantage.
Travel:
- Approximately 30-40 days per year, primarily for internal audits and vessel visits.
- Travel will include destinations such as Brazil, West Africa, and the Far East.
