An international marine P&I Club is seeking a UK-qualified solicitor with strong FD&D experience to join their London-based team. This is a specialist role offering high-quality work and excellent exposure to a broad range of global clients.
The Role
This is a pure FD&D position, supporting Members including owners, charterers, and traders across Europe, Asia, and Brazil. The role involves:
- Advising on a wide variety of charterparty disputes, hull damage, charterers’ liability, bills of lading claims, and other FD&D matters.
- Experience with offshore contracts (e.g., Supplytime, knock-for-knock regimes) and familiarity with NYP, Gencon, and sale contracts would be advantageous.
- Managing claims from inception to resolution, including strategic appointment and oversight of external legal counsel.
- Taking a commercial, pragmatic approach to resolving disputes, including identifying cost-effective alternatives to litigation or arbitration.
About You
- UK-qualified solicitor, ideally 1–4 years PQE (not NQ), although more experienced candidates will also be considered.
- Previous experience within a P&I Club is preferred, though candidates from private practice with relevant shipping litigation experience are welcome.
- Practical mindset with strong communication and client-handling skills.
