Broker Technician – South East England
An established marine insurance group is expanding its support function and is looking for a detail-oriented Broker Technician to join its technical placement team. Based in South East England with hybrid flexibility, this role is ideal for someone with a background in marine underwriting or administration looking to transition into broking.
This is an excellent entry point into a technical broking career, with opportunities to learn placement structure, gain market exposure, and work alongside experienced marine insurance professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support brokers with contract production, documentation, and post-placement processing.
- Prepare policy schedules, certificates, and endorsements.
- Liaise with insurers and clients to ensure smooth administrative workflows.
- Learn about marine placement strategies and insurance structures.
- Handle routine client queries and support the business across Hull & Machinery, Cargo, and Liability lines.
- Contribute to internal data accuracy and record-keeping initiatives.
Requirements:
- Marine insurance background essential – experience in underwriting, broking, or shipping welcomed.
- Willingness to adapt from an underwriting mindset into a broker support function.
- Excellent attention to detail and documentation management.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Comfortable with hybrid working between office (South East England), home, and occasional visits to Ipswich/London.
