We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Technical Superintendent to oversee the technical performance, safety, and compliance of a fleet of dry bulk vessels.
The successful candidate will act as the principal liaison between the company and third-party technical managers, ensuring the highest standards of technical reliability, cost-efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Third-Party Manager Oversight: Monitor and evaluate the performance of external ship management companies, ensuring alignment with company standards and contract terms.
- Vessel Inspections & Dry Docking: Conduct regular vessel visits during operations and attend dry docks to oversee maintenance, repairs, and condition assessments.
- Operational Support: Assist the operations team with technical matters, providing solutions to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient vessel operations.
- Budgeting & Procurement: Manage vessel technical budgets, including review and approval of quotations for spare parts, services, and repairs. Ensure cost-effective procurement in line with quality standards.
- Reporting: Prepare and deliver detailed reports on vessel performance, condition, and technical issues to senior management, with actionable recommendations.
- Compliance: Ensure all assigned vessels comply with Class, Flag State, and international regulatory requirements (ISM/ISPS/MLC, MARPOL, SOLAS, etc.).
- Stakeholder Liaison: Maintain professional relationships with shipyards, surveyors, classification societies, and relevant authorities to facilitate smooth operations and inspections.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Chief Engineer license or Marine Engineering degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role within the dry bulk shipping sector.
- Strong knowledge of dry bulk vessel systems, dry docking procedures, and technical operations.
- Experience working with or overseeing third-party technical managers.
- Familiarity with budget planning and cost control for vessel technical management.
- Proficient in using fleet management systems and reporting tools.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Willingness to travel internationally on short notice.
