FD&D Lawyer – Tokyo

Overview:
An International Group (IG) P&I Club is expanding its FD&D services in Japan and is seeking an experienced and motivated Shipping Lawyer to join its team. This is a unique opportunity for a UK-qualified lawyer with a strong interest in Asia to work at the heart of a growing and respected organisation in the marine insurance sector.
  
Key Responsibilities:

• Advise Members on a broad range of FD&D and P&I legal issues
• Handle contractual disputes, charterparty claims, and related shipping litigation
• Represent the Club and Members in regional legal matters and arbitration
• Participate in regional marketing, business development, and seminar delivery
• Engage in occasional travel within Asia to support Member relationships and business outreach

Candidate Requirements:

• Qualified as a Solicitor in England & Wales (or equivalent common law jurisdiction)
• Minimum of 2 years PQE in Shipping Law, preferably with FD&D experience
• Strong commercial awareness and a client-focused mindset
• Excellent communication and drafting skills
• Japanese language skills are not required
