We are currently working with a large privately owned shipowner/trader who are looking to hire a data scientist to help support in trading activities ad well as help with fundamental research that underpins the company’s broader involvement in the shipping sector.

In this role you will:
– Build and maintain shipping and commodities prices within internal data infrastructure
– Create and maintain web-based dashboard with visualisations of data
– Support the build of fundamental shipping supply and demand models
– Develop analytics of support risk management of multi-asset portfolio
– Model the back testing of new trade and hedging strategies

Skills and Requirements:
– Around 5+ years’ experience in a similar position
– Ideally experience gained within a shipping or trading background
– Bachelor’s degree in related field
– Proficiency in Python and SQL databases
– Ability to understand statistical analytics
– Interest in machine learning and artificial intelligence
– Experience with visualisation software and creating interactive web-based dashboards
