We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled Technical Superintendent to join a shipping company based in Scotland. This role is responsible for overseeing the technical operations and maintenance of their fleet of tanker vessels, ensuring compliance with international regulations and company standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support and guidance to their fleet of tanker vessels, addressing any operational or maintenance-related issues specific to tanker operations.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of tanker vessels to ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements, including those specific to the tanker industry.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs and procedures for tanker vessels to minimize equipment downtime and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate with shipyards and service providers for repair, dry-docking, and retrofit projects of tanker vessels, ensuring timely and cost-effective execution.
  • Evaluate and recommend the procurement of spare parts, equipment, and technical services specific to tanker operations, ensuring optimal inventory management and cost control.
  • Analyze technical data, reports, and incident investigations related to tanker operations to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders, including tanker vessel crews, shore-based teams, and regulatory authorities, to ensure seamless communication and effective decision-making.
  • Provide technical training and guidance to tanker vessel crews, promoting best practices and continuous learning in tanker operations.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and applicable regulations specific to the tanker industry, including safety, environmental, and quality management systems.

Qualifications:

  • Sailed as a Chief Engineer or First Engineer on ocean-going tanker vessels, with a valid and relevant marine engineering certificate.
  • Proven experience as a Technical Superintendent or in a similar role, preferably in the tanker industry.
  • Strong technical knowledge of marine engineering systems, equipment, and maintenance practices specific to tanker operations.
  • Familiarity with international maritime regulations, conventions, and industry best practices related to tanker vessels.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with various stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and relevant technical software.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
