Marine Insurance Broker – Hamburg

A leading international shipping group is seeking an experienced Marine Insurance Broker to join its Hamburg office. They need someone who already knows their craft, someone who can step into a busy portfolio and add value from day one. You will work within a sizeable in-house insurance team supporting a fleet of c.120 vessels, predominantly container tonnage, with strong ownership backing and a genuinely varied risk profile.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support negotiations during renewals across H&M, P&I, cargo and marine liabilities.
• Prepare, review and administer insurance contract documents, policy endorsements and confirmations.
• Compile insurance budgets, financial results and accruals with accuracy and commercial awareness.
• Manage daily communication with clients, banks, insurers, intermediaries and other stakeholders.
• Drive improvements in workflow, digitalisation and operational efficiency within the team.
• Provide technical input to the team lead and support the wider insurance department as required.

 
Requirements

• Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience in marine broking; someone who can operate independently.
• Completed apprenticeship or degree in insurance, finance or shipping is preferred.
• Able to think commercially and act decisively under pressure.
• Confident communicating with decision makers at all levels.
• Strong organisational discipline, resilience and a team-centred mindset.
• German language skills are helpful, not essential.
• Willing to work four days per week in the Hamburg office; this is fixed.
