Yacht Insurance Underwriter – Germany

A growing international marine insurance company is looking to hire a Yacht Insurance Underwriter to join its expanding team in Germany.
This opportunity is ideal for an experienced marine insurance professional with underwriting experience who is looking to play a key role in shaping and developing a specialist yacht insurance product. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing risks, developing tailored insurance solutions, and supporting the continued growth of the business within the international yachting market.
Working closely with business development, customer service, and operational teams, you will sit at the centre of the company’s underwriting strategy. The role offers the opportunity to influence underwriting processes, work with high-value yacht risks, and contribute to the growth of an international marine insurance platform.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Assess and underwrite yacht insurance risks, applying and continuously improving underwriting principles and guidelines.
• Review incoming requests for quotation from clients and partners, producing tailored insurance solutions for high-value yachts.
• Analyse risk information and make informed underwriting decisions in line with company strategy.
• Manage relationships with key clients, brokers, and business partners.
• Support the development and optimisation of yacht insurance products and underwriting processes.
• Monitor market developments, competitor activity, and emerging trends within the yacht insurance sector.
• Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure excellent service delivery and sustainable business growth.

 
Requirements

• Previous underwriting experience within marine insurance, ideally with exposure to yacht insurance.
• Strong technical understanding and willingness to develop expertise within a specialist insurance product.
• Experience assessing complex risks and creating tailored insurance solutions.
• Strong communication skills with a professional and client-focused approach.
• Commercial mindset with the ability to balance technical underwriting decisions with business objectives.
• Ability to work collaboratively across underwriting, business development, and operational teams.
• Interest in the yachting industry and understanding of the wider marine market.
• Fluent English required, alongside at least one additional European language (Spanish, French, German, Italian, Greek, or Portuguese).
