Shipping Transactions & Investment Analytics Manager

We are working with an established international shipping organisation looking to appoint a Shipping Transactions & Investment Analytics Manager to its Athens office.
This is a commercially focused analytical role supporting senior management on major investment and strategic decisions across the business. The position will be involved in vessel acquisitions and disposals, newbuilding investments, chartering opportunities, financing structures, joint ventures, M&A and wider strategic projects.
The successful candidate will combine strong shipping market knowledge with advanced financial modelling and investment analysis skills. You will also manage and develop a small transactions analytics team.
The role
You will be responsible for:
- Leading financial and commercial analysis for vessel acquisitions, disposals and fleet optimisation projects
- Building detailed financial models to assess investment opportunities and strategic transactions
- Evaluating returns, sensitivities and transaction risks across different shipping market scenarios
- Supporting due diligence on acquisitions, partnerships and strategic investments
- Monitoring freight markets, vessel values, S&P activity and wider macroeconomic developments
- Assessing vessel earnings potential, asset performance and shipping market cycles
- Producing market intelligence and recommendations for senior management
- Maintaining analysis covering vessel values, charter rates, transaction activity and competitor fleet developments
- Working closely with commercial, finance and senior leadership teams
- Incorporating AI tools into analytical workflows to improve the speed and quality of analysis
- Managing, developing and mentoring members of the Transactions Analytics team
What we are looking for
We are particularly interested in candidates with:
- 7+ years’ experience within shipping finance, transaction advisory, investment analysis, corporate development, maritime consulting, private equity, investment banking or commercial shipping
- Strong understanding of shipping markets and vessel economics
- Advanced financial modelling and valuation capability
- Previous exposure to vessel acquisitions, fleet investments or other shipping transactions
- Strong Excel and financial analysis skills, with Power BI experience beneficial
- Experience using AI tools within financial, commercial or analytical work
- A degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Mathematics, Engineering, Shipping or a related discipline
- The ability to communicate complex commercial and financial analysis clearly to senior stakeholders
Experience across tanker, dry bulk, container, gas or offshore shipping can be relevant.
This position would suit someone currently working within a shipowner, investment platform, maritime consultancy, shipping finance team, corporate development function or similar environment who wants broader involvement in strategic shipping investments and transactions.
