James works as a Senior Recruitment Consultant at Spinnaker with seven years of experience in recruitment, including three and a half years in global markets. Over the years, he has worked across a variety of industries, including education—focusing on apprenticeships and teachers—before transitioning into tech/IT, aviation, automotive, space, and, most recently, maritime.

At Spinnaker, James focuses on recruitment within the marine insurance sector, covering roles in insurance broking and underwriting. He works closely with businesses across the maritime industry, helping to place talented professionals in positions such as Marine Insurance Brokers, Underwriters, and Risk Analysts.

James has been recognised multiple times throughout his career, winning several awards for Permanent Consultant of the Month. His commitment to delivering exceptional recruitment solutions and his ability to build strong relationships with clients and candidates alike have contributed to his continued success in the industry.

Since moving into maritime recruitment, James has developed a keen interest in the sector, enjoying the challenge of connecting top talent with leading businesses in the industry. His global experience gives him a strong understanding of international markets and hiring trends, making him a valuable asset to the team.

Outside of work, James has a lifelong passion for karate, having earned his black belt as a child. He has recently returned to training and even competed in his first competition as an adult, winning silver and bronze medals in two events. He also loves to travel, having explored Southeast Asia, and enjoys paddleboarding, learning about new cultures and languages, and cultivating his newfound passion for bonsai. A self-proclaimed geography and flag nerd, James is always up for a challenge when it comes to world knowledge! And as a true connoisseur of all things cheese, he's always on the lookout for the next great variety to try!
