Marine Operations Lead – France

An established international marine services and insurance-related organisation is seeking a senior operational leader to take responsibility for service quality, technical oversight, and operational consistency across its international network.
 
This is a high-impact, group-level role for someone with deep technical credibility in marine claims and a strong operational mindset. The position combines strategic oversight with hands-on involvement in complex matters, acting as the internal benchmark for quality, judgement, and best practice across multiple jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and continuously enhance the quality, consistency, and technical accuracy of marine and P&I-related claims handling across the international network.
• Act as the senior technical reference point for claims professionals and regional leadership on complex or sensitive matters.
• Provide guidance, mentoring, and escalation support on high-value or high-exposure claims.
• Define, implement, and refine operational standards, procedures, and best practices across offices.
• Ensure alignment with insurer, P&I Club, and client expectations.
• Monitor operational performance and contribute to group-level risk management and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Take direct carriage of the most complex, high-profile, or sensitive claims where required.
• Engage directly with external stakeholders including shipowners, insurers, P&I Clubs, and legal advisers.
• Support senior management in client meetings, audits, and strategic discussions as a technical authority.

 
Requirements

• Significant experience in P&I and marine claims handling within a correspondent network, P&I Club, insurer, or equivalent maritime organisation.
• Strong technical expertise across liability, casualties, cargo, personal injury, pollution, and related marine risks.
• Proven experience supervising, mentoring, or technically leading senior claims professionals.
• Comfortable operating across multiple jurisdictions and cultures.
• Confident engaging at senior management and client level, with sound judgement and credibility.
• Fluent English required; additional European languages are advantageous.
• Based in France, with flexibility for occasional international travel.
