Chartering Manager – London

An established shipping company are looking to hire a Tanker Chartering Manager to join its London office.
  
The commercial team is small, so the role requires someone comfortable working independently and taking ownership of fixtures and relationships.
  
The position focuses primarily on the crude oil desk and covers a mix of spot, COA, consecutive voyage, and time charter employment. The successful candidate will manage chartering activity end to end, from cargo evaluation and freight negotiation through to fixture execution and post fixture coordination.
  
Key responsibilities

• Manage spot, COA, CV, and TC employment for crude oil vessels
• Maintain and develop relationships with oil majors, traders, and shipbrokers
• Monitor market conditions, freight levels, and vessel availability to support commercial decisions
• Coordinate closely with operations and senior commercial stakeholders
• Represent the company directly in negotiations and market discussions

Requirements

• Demonstrable tanker chartering experience with crude oil exposure
• Ability to operate as a sole commercial contributor in a lean setup
• Existing relationships with major charterers, traders, or brokers in the crude market
• Strong grasp of tanker freight dynamics, voyage economics, and negotiation practice
• Comfort dealing directly with senior external counterparties

Salary budget for this role is £80,000 to £100,000 base, plus bonus and benefits.
