Deputy Head of Technical (Dry Bulk) – Hong Kong

Spinnaker are representing an international ship-owning organisation who operate a modern fleet of specialised open-hatch multipurpose vessels designed for the carriage of forest products and other unitised cargoes. The fleet is technically advanced and trades globally, supported by an established technical management structure in Asia.
 
Role Overview
The Deputy Head of Technical will support the Head of Technical in overseeing the technical and operational performance of the fleet and act as a key interface with the contracted technical management team in Hong Kong. The position combines technical oversight, budget monitoring, dry-dock planning and stakeholder reporting, with involvement in projects and operational improvement initiatives.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Technical follow-up of vessels in operation
• Liaison with the external technical manager in Hong Kong
• Preparation and monitoring of technical budgets
• P&I and H&M insurance coordination and incident follow-up
• Fuel efficiency and optimisation initiatives across the fleet
• Planning and follow-up of dry-dockings, including yard coordination
• Stakeholder reporting and performance updates
• Attendance at crew conferences when required
• Project management activities as assigned

Requirements

• Marine Engineer or Naval Architect (relevant experience may compensate for formal education)
• Approximately 5+ years’ experience at Technical Superintendent or Fleet Manager level
• Fluent English communication skills
