This role would suit a person with dry bulk operations experience (capesize or panamax vessels experience preferred but not essential).
The ideal candidate will come from an established dry bulk company and will be able to demonstrate a track record of success over at least two years.

The role will have a focus on smooth operating of the companies owned and operated vessels by performing hire/bunker/port payments, provide master/agents with instructions, invoice customers, carry out laytime calculations, keep track on vessel positions, deal with issues arising during the voyage, arrange stow plans etc.

Accountant, London

Spinnaker has partnered with an international shipbroking and servicing company for the hire of an experienced qualified Accountant to join their London office in an end-to-end accounting position.

Seeking an ACA, ACCA or CIMA (or equivalent) qualified Accountant to hold to overall responsibility of AP/AR, reconciliation, production of financial statements and year-end audit preparations. The position will also cover financial reporting on a monthly and quarterly basis of cashflow, budget vs forecast as well as ad-hoc reports as requested from the wider Group.

This position will suit a candidate that is well accustomed to general bookkeeping and transactional accounting, whilst also has the technical ability and confidence to lead in audit and HMRC communications.

To be successful in this position, you will have strong interpersonal and communication skills. This role will see you communicating with the Group internationally, guiding a junior Accounts Assistant and liaising with internal departments and external advisors.

Good working knowledge of Excel and accounting software is required, and ideally experience of / exposure to a transition of bringing an accounting function inhouse from a service provider, would be highly advantageous.

We are ideally seeking someone with shipping experience. Understanding of a shipbroker would also put you at a great advantage.

Disbursements Manager, London

Spinnaker has partnered with a global ship management company for the hire of an experienced Disbursements Manager to join their London office.

This role will hold the responsibility of checking and agreeing final disbursement accounts, monitoring vessel port calls and following up final disbursement accounts from agents and working closely with the Operations department for approvals and documentation requests.

To be successful in this position, you will bring with you experience of managing or performing the Disbursements function in a shipping company. This is a leadership role, which will draw on your experience of supervising or managing junior professionals.

This is a position that will suit a candidate that is forward thinking, and able to identify and implement opportunities to improve processes within the Disbursements department.

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, and ideally Microsoft Dynamics or experience of a financial ERP accounting system change, would be highly advantageous.

In this standalone role, you will hold the responsibility for transactional accounting, FP&A and statutory reporting. With end-to-end accounting experience, you will be able to hit the ground running, with invoicing, payments, budgets, financial analysis, tax returns and audit.

To be successful in this position, you will have strong VAT and general tax experience, and a working knowledge of UK accounting and tax law and regulations. You will be a qualified Accountant, ideally with a mathematics focus within your studies.

Ex-Deck Officer with at least 3 years of sea service and with strong theoretical and practical knowledge on vessel’s inspections and maintenance.

A Commercial and Airtime Service Manager is being recruited into one of the biggest names in shipping.

In this position you will have responsibility for selling the solution, managing the ongoing daily operation, profitability and development of the Airtime service offering.

Senior Bulk Vessel Operator- Singapore

We are working with a privately held firm involved primarily in the international trading and merchandising of agricultural commodities, with operations in more than 50 countries worldwide.

Our client is currently looking for a Senior Vessel Operator based in Singapore, the main accountabilities for this position are:

•Operate and be responsible for the end to end management of all allocated vessels’ shipping operations matter, for Dry Cargo ships
•Communicate and liaise with vessel owner’s/ship masters/charterers, trading team and other relevant stakeholders on voyage instructions
•Responsible for following up on post fixture activities
•Manage assigned external relations with customers and/or suppliers
•Support and lead process improvement initiatives as required
•Ensure and champion a close and harmonious working relationship with the relevant Commercial team
•Collaborate effectively with other Freight Platform desks

To be successful for this role our client is looking for someone with the following knowledge and experience:

•Minimum 5 years’ experience as an Operator of Voyage/Time Charter dry bulk vessel, minimally 8-10 vessels at a time
•Significant and demonstrated customer or supplier relationship skills
•An interest in and aptitude for people management
•Knowledge of macroeconomics including trade flows
•Commercial Maturity/Shipping or Economic studies
•Fluent in English essential, with other languages an advantage

Legal, Claims and Insurance Manager, Europe

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Legal, Claims and Insurance Manager to join an international and privately owned agri-business. This position is to be based in Switzerland.

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the company is properly insured in relation to its business risks and liabilities relating to cargo, warehouse and chartering. Joining a busy existing team, we are seeking an Accountant with experience working within the shipping sector, to cover booking, analysing and controlling the monthly expenditure. This position will see you processing tax submissions, handling supplier and intercompany reconciliations and covering fixed assets and annual budgets. This role will also have you managing month-end closing for my clients’ Asian subsidiaries.
