GROWTH IN EXECUTIVE SEARCH

ACCORDING to the Executive Grapevine, for the first time in 3 years the UK executive search market has returned to growth. This mirrors Spinnaker’s experience, which has seen a rise in executive search instructions in shipping since March.

“After a sluggish start to the business year in October 2011, we have seen a steady rise in senior recruitment since March,” said Spinnaker’s Business Development Director Teresa Peacock. “It’s difficult to identify the causes and in most individual cases there is a replacement element. What we have noticed, however, is that many of our clients are taking the opportunity to make strategic changes when defining the job description and this has generally meant ‘beefing up’ the roles. Overall, they are displaying more confidence and focusing on replacing outgoing managers with bigger hitters. In some cases, we are seeing re-organisations with some functions being centralised and needing more senior people.”

Spinnaker is currently recruiting at executive level for the following roles in Asia, the Middle East, North America and Europe: head of legal & insurance, head of insurance, director of loss prevention, general manager freight trading, offshore commercial VP, shipmanagement MD, CFO, group FD, CEO owner/operator, MD marine software, regional GM shipping services, VP processes & standards, VP international sales, regional MD shipbroker, VP construction & projects.
