As part of our 30 Under 30 initiative, we’re celebrating the next generation of leaders shaping the future of the maritime industry. Next up is Emily Dove, Sales Manager for ASEAN and the Middle East at TECO Chemicals, and a standout emerging talent combining commercial ambition, global relationship building, and a genuine commitment to supporting the next generation of maritime professionals.
Emily is responsible for driving sales and business development across two major international markets, working with clients to provide specialist chemical solutions for machinery onboard vessels. Her role goes far beyond traditional sales, with Emily actively building relationships across the wider maritime ecosystem, from shipowners, operators, charterers, and managers to engine manufacturers and classification societies. This broader approach allows her to better understand where the industry is heading and ensure TECO Chemicals remains connected to the changing needs of its customers.
Over the past 12 months, Emily has played an important role in developing TECO Chemicals’ presence across ASEAN and the Middle East. Her curiosity and proactive approach have seen her engage with organisations including Everllence and DNV to deepen her understanding of the adoption of future-fuelled vessels and what this could mean for the industry and TECO Chemicals. By looking beyond immediate commercial opportunities, she is helping build relationships and knowledge that can support the company’s longer-term growth.
Emily’s contribution to maritime also extends well beyond her day-to-day role. As a Committee Member and Marketing Officer at WISTA UK, she has supported targeted marketing and events designed to strengthen the association’s visibility and industry engagement. She is also a founding member of Women Together and a mentor with Women in Transport, dedicating her time to supporting and encouraging the next generation of professionals as they build their own careers.
What makes Emily’s journey particularly noteworthy is the scale of change she has embraced in a relatively short period. After previously pursuing a high-achieving career in sport, she made the decision to build a new career within shipping in her late twenties. She has since redirected the determination and resilience developed through sport into the maritime industry, establishing herself in a traditionally established sector while continuing to learn and develop at pace.
That adaptability was tested further when Emily relocated from London to Singapore, taking on not only a new role but entirely new markets and business cultures. Working across ASEAN and the Middle East has required her to understand different cultural nuances, communication styles, and approaches to relationship building. Through proactive listening, curiosity, and a willingness to learn from those around her, she has successfully built strong relationships across both regions and delivered results beyond expectations.
Emily’s career so far demonstrates that there is no single route into maritime. Her ability to embrace change, build meaningful international relationships, and contribute to the wider industry while developing a new career makes her an exciting example of the talent entering shipping today. With her combination of commercial drive, resilience, and commitment to supporting others, Emily is helping shape a more connected and forward-looking maritime industry.
