SPINNAKER has been a supporter of Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) and the Anthony Nolan Trust for some years.
Oscar, son of our Chairman Phil Parry, has virtually lived there and nearly died there on several occasions, but thanks to the amazing people who work there and the literally brand-new techniques they tried, he survived two leukaemia, 3 bone marrow transplants, a splenectomy, 5 brain haemorrhages, seizures and a broken back.
Oscar’s story was made into a short film to help promote a single released by TV’s the X Factor last month. It was watched by an estimated 15 million viewers and the single shot straight to number one in the UK. The aim is to raise £1m. Prompted by the show, many of Spinnaker’s friends have sent messages of support and some have asked whether they can make a donation ‘for Oscar’ to GOSH.
“We’ve been really touched by people’s kindness,” said Phil, Oscar’s Dad. “Since the X Factor, we’ve been overwhelmed by messages of support.”
