Vessel Manager / Technical Superintendent  – Oil & Chemical Tankers

An opportunity has arisen for a Vessel Manager / Technical Superintendent to join an established ship management organisation overseeing a fleet of Oil and Chemical Tankers.

You will be responsible for the safe, compliant and cost-effective technical management of 3-4 vessels, working closely with both onboard and shore-based teams to ensure high standards of operational performance, maintenance and regulatory compliance.

This opportunity is open to both experienced (2-3 years) Technical Superintendents and Chief Engineers looking to transition ashore.

The Role

Reporting into the Technical Management team, you will take full responsibility for the technical operation of assigned vessels, ensuring they are maintained to the highest standards while meeting operational, safety and budgetary objectives.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing the day-to-day technical operation of assigned vessels
• Monitoring vessel condition, maintenance standards and technical performance
• Planning and overseeing dry dockings, repairs, refits and major maintenance projects
• Preparing repair specifications and evaluating quotations from shipyards and contractors
• Managing vessel budgets and monitoring expenditure
• Coordinating the procurement of spare parts, services and equipment
• Maintaining vessel certification and survey status
• Ensuring compliance with IMO, Flag State, Port State and Class requirements
• Supporting emergency response activities when required
• Promoting safety, environmental and quality standards across the fleet
• Working closely with onboard teams to drive performance and continuous improvement
• Building effective relationships with owners, Class Societies, regulatory authorities and suppliers

Requirements

• Chief Engineer Certificate of Competency (STCW III/2)
• Minimum 12 months’ sailing experience as Chief Engineer on Oil or Chemical Tankers
• Strong technical knowledge of tanker operations, maintenance and regulatory compliance
• Good understanding of vessel budgeting and cost control
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to work effectively with both onboard and shore-based teams
