Claims Handler – Singapore

An established and growing international marine insurance platform is looking to appoint a Claims Handler to join its team in either Singapore.

The business operates across key global shipping hubs and works with a sophisticated international client base, including shipowners, charterers, commodity traders and offshore operators.

This is a hands-on, end-to-end claims role within a lean and collaborative team. Reporting into the Chief Claims Officer, you will have significant ownership and autonomy, managing marine claims from cradle to grave.

The portfolio will primarily focus on Owners’ P&I claims, alongside exposure to Charterers’ Liability and FD&D matters.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Manage marine claims across multiple jurisdictions from notification through to settlement.
• Interpret policy terms and assess coverage.
• Liaise directly with clients, brokers, P&I Clubs, external counsel, surveyors and correspondents.
• Manage reserving, negotiations and settlements.
• Provide claims insight and risk input to the underwriting team.
• Contribute to internal reporting and ongoing process development.
• Maintain ownership of files and manage matters independently through to resolution.

The successful candidate will be a commercially minded marine claims professional who enjoys working within a lean, collaborative environment and is comfortable taking ownership of complex matters.
You should have:

• Strong marine claims experience, ideally across P&I.
• Experience managing claims through the full lifecycle.
• Good understanding of policy interpretation and coverage.
• Confidence dealing directly with clients and external stakeholders.
• Strong negotiation and settlement skills.
• The ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively within a close-knit team.
• A commercially minded and proactive approach.
