Master Mariner – Claims Manager – London

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Master Mariner to join the highly regarded maritime disputes practice of a leading international law firm in London.

The firm is looking to appoint an experienced maritime professional to work on a broad range of complex admiralty and shipping disputes, advising clients across the international maritime and insurance markets. The role will focus on advising on a variety of contentious maritime matters, including:

• Ship collisions and grounding incidents.
• Admiralty disputes and casualty investigations.
• Hull & Machinery (H&M) claims.
• Claims arising within the London marine insurance and broking market.
• Liaising with shipowners, insurers, brokers, lawyers and other maritime stakeholders.

The firm is keen to hear from candidates with a strong seafaring background, ideally holding or having held a Master Mariner’s Certificate of Competency.

• Legally qualified Master Mariners looking to develop their career within a leading international law firm.
• Non-legally qualified Master Mariners with previous experience handling maritime claims, admiralty disputes or casualty-related matters.

A strong understanding of vessel operations, navigation, marine casualties and the wider shipping industry will be essential. Experience dealing with H&M claims or working alongside marine insurers, brokers or legal professionals would be particularly advantageous.
