Junior Shipping Lawyer or Paralegal – Hong Kong

A well-established maritime organisation in Hong Kong with a strong presence across Asia is seeking a junior shipping lawyer (NQ – 2 years PQE) or a Paralegal with Shipping Litigation experience to join its FD&D team. The role offers early responsibility, direct client exposure, and the opportunity to work closely with mainland Chinese shipowner clients on a high-volume caseload.
 
This is an excellent opportunity for a junior lawyer looking to move away from traditional private practice into a commercial, client-facing role within the maritime insurance/club environment.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Managing a portfolio of FD&D and shipping-related claims
• Advising on charterparty disputes (forming the majority of matters)
• Acting as a key point of contact for clients, providing timely and practical advice
• Liaising with external counsel where required
• Supporting claims handling in a fast-paced, reactive environment
• Occasional travel to mainland China
• Travel around South East Asia may be required 

Candidate Profile

• NQ-2 years PQE shipping or maritime lawyer
• Some exposure to shipping litigation preferred
• Experience with or interest in charterparty disputes
• Comfortable working in a client-driven, time-sensitive role
• Strong communication skills and sound commercial judgment
