A leading global maritime logistics provider with a strong commitment to operational excellence and sustainable growth, are looking for a new Business Development Manager to drive commercial growth and expand market presence across their Indonesian regions.
This is a strategic role offering the opportunity to shape expansion initiatives, forge key partnerships, and directly influence the company’s regional development strategy.
Working with autonomy and supported by an international network of professionals, you’ll play a pivotal role in strengthening service networks, deepening customer relationships, and uncovering new growth opportunities across Indonesia’s dynamic maritime sector.
The position will be based remotely in Indonesia, reporting into their Singapore office.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and develop new business opportunities, service routes, and strategic partnerships across Indonesia.
- Build and maintain relationships with terminal operators, barge operators, private berths, and cargo owners.
- Prepare business proposals, feasibility studies, and cost-benefit analyses for management review
- Negotiate commercial terms and service agreements with partners and customers
- Conduct market research and provide insights on trade flows, trends, and competitive dynamics
- Collaborate with internal teams to launch new services and operational enhancements
- Represent the company at industry events to drive brand visibility and partnerships.
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Maritime Studies, Logistics, International Trade, or related field
- 7+ years in commercial roles within shipping, container, or breakbulk sectors in Indonesia
- Strong knowledge of Indonesia’s maritime and logistics ecosystem (terminals, barge, cargo operations)
- Familiarity with key commercial regions (Riau, Jambi, Kalimantan, Sumatra, Sulawesi) (highly desirable)
- Proven ability to identify opportunities, develop partnerships, and negotiate with diverse stakeholders
- Established network within Indonesian shipping and logistics industry (ports, terminals, operators, shipping lines)
- Entrepreneurial, proactive, and results-driven approach
- Ability to work independently and travel extensively across Indonesia
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
- Fluent in Bahasa Indonesia and English (written and spoken)
