The Role
We are seeking a System / Infrastructure Officer to join a leading international technology and connectivity provider supporting complex, business-critical IT environments across maritime and land-based operations.
This role sits at the heart of the organisation’s ICT function, with responsibility for maintaining, securing, and continuously improving on-premises, hybrid, and cloud infrastructure. You will play a key role in ensuring system reliability, resilience, and performance, while delivering high-quality support to internal users, partners, and customers.
The position can be based in Cyprus or Greece, depending on the candidate’s location.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively implement measures to prevent or minimise service disruptions
- Monitor infrastructure performance to maximise uptime and availability
- Install, upgrade, configure, and maintain on-premises, hybrid, and cloud-based systems
- Manage infrastructure assets, system configurations, antivirus protection, and deployments
- Act as a technical lead on infrastructure projects, delivering secure and cost-effective solutions
- Take ownership of incidents and service requests, from logging through to resolution
- Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis, applying change and problem management practices
- Maintain accurate system records, SOPs, and infrastructure documentation
- Contribute to the infrastructure knowledge base and continuous improvement initiatives
- Research, evaluate, and support adoption of modern and emerging technologies
- Support automation, optimisation, and service improvement projects
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless service delivery
- Implement and manage security controls including firewalls, encryption, monitoring, and backup solutions
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent professional experience
- Minimum 3+ years’ experience in systems and infrastructure administration
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken
- Strong experience with virtualisation technologies (VMware, KVM)
- Solid expertise in Windows domain infrastructure (AD, DNS, DHCP, File Services)
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Digital Ocean – IaaS/PaaS)
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Dynamics 365, PowerApps)
- Proficiency in Linux environments (Debian, Ubuntu, CentOS)
- Experience with scripting and automation (PowerShell, Python, Ansible)
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (Fortinet experience advantageous)
- Experience with Service Desk tools (Freshservice, Jira, or similar)
- Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools (Zabbix or equivalent)
- Exposure to PBX systems (3CX, Asterisk) and open-source platforms (ownCloud, FreePBX)
- Experience with endpoint and device management (Intune, JAMF, MDM solutions)
- Familiarity with RMM tools for proactive monitoring
- Awareness of IT service management and security principles (ITIL or equivalent)
