The Role
Seeking a commercially focused Assistant Superintendent – Operations to join a lean, project-driven LNG infrastructure business based in London.
This is an office-based, full-time role supporting FSRU, FSU and LNGC assets, with a strong focus on managing the Ship-Shore Compatibility Study (SSCS) process and overseeing compliance with commercial and operational procedures.
Working directly with senior leadership, this is an all-rounder position within a small, entrepreneurial team where flexibility, commercial awareness, and the ability to “manage the managers” are essential.
Key Responsibilities

- Ensure compliance with written SSCS procedures and contractual requirements
- Monitor and manage time charter party (TCP) reporting, performance clauses, notices, and related commercial obligations
- Oversee vetting clearance processes, including RightShip screening and SIRE report monitoring
- Maintain records of SSCS approvals, vetting screenings, and compliance documentation
- Liaise with vessel managers, charterers, LNGC owners, suppliers, and technical operators to ensure operational and contractual performance
- Prepare and submit required operational, HSSE, and commercial reports in line with contractual requirements
- Support monthly billing processes, including STS-related documentation where applicable
- Oversee managers’ compliance with maintenance reporting and vessel documentation (e.g., Q88, HVPQ, Shell Form B)
- Assist with due diligence processes involving LNG suppliers and terminal stakeholders
- Support ISO documentation and internal process compliance where required
- Provide operational and commercial support across LNG/FSRU conversion and shore-side projects
- Act as a central coordination point between commercial, operations, and external stakeholders
Requirements
- Seafaring background strongly preferred, ideally with LNG experience (LPG experience also considered)
- Previous shipboard service as a Deck Officer or Marine Engineer on LNGC, FSRU, or similar gas vessels
- Strong familiarity with SSCS processes and ship-shore compatibility procedures
- Solid commercial awareness, particularly relating to Time Charter Party obligations and reporting requirements
- Degree in Nautical Science, Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or similar maritime discipline (or equivalent seafaring experience)
- Experience in LNG ship operations, technical management, or a similar commercial/operations-focused role
- Ability to operate in a lean, entrepreneurial environment with shifting priorities
- Strong organisational skills and attention to procedural compliance
- Commercially minded with minimal reliance on hands-on technical execution
- Valid passport/visa and ability to work in the UK.
- Willingness to operate initially as a limited company consultant for payroll purposes (monthly invoicing via U.S. entity)
This opportunity would suit a commercially aware LNG officer looking to transition into or further develop within a shore-based, commercially focused operations role in a growing LNG infrastructure business.
