Our client is a globally established player in the maritime and logistics sector, with over 5-decades of industry leadership. Operating across more than 90 countries worldwide, they provide end-to-end shipping, freight forwarding, and supply chain solutions across major international trade lanes. With a strong and growing footprint in East Africa, they are now expanding their logistics capabilities in Tanzania and seeking a senior leader to drive this next phase of growth.
 
This is a high-impact leadership role with full ownership of P&L performance, business development, and operational excellence in Tanzania. You will build and scale a logistics operation from a position of strength, backed by the resources and reputation of a world-class global organisation.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead all logistics operations in Tanzania, aligning with corporate strategy and regional growth objectives
• Drive business development across freight forwarding and contract logistics — identifying and converting high-value opportunities
• Oversee end-to-end freight forwarding via air, sea, and land, ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness
• Develop and manage contract logistics services including warehousing, distribution, and value-added solutions
• Manage cross-border logistics with full compliance across regional regulatory frameworks
• Design and implement multimodal and intermodal transport solutions tailored to client needs
• Optimise supply chain processes to improve service quality, reduce costs, and drive operational excellence
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, vendors, and regulatory authorities
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing local team

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

• Minimum 10 years of senior-level experience in logistics, with deep expertise in freight forwarding and/or contract logistics.
• Strong knowledge of the East African logistics market — particularly Tanzania and the wider region.
• Proven track record leading commercial teams and delivering against P&L targets.
• An established network across logistics service providers, regulatory bodies, and customers in the region.
• A commercial mindset with the ability to translate relationships into long-term revenue.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
