Business Development Manager – Marine & Engineering Services
Overview
We are supporting a well-established engineering services provider in the Marine & Industrial sector with the appointment of a Business Development Manager.
This is a pure new business role, focused on identifying, developing, and securing new customers across engine services, spare parts, and associated technical solutions.
The position is home-based within North of the UK, with extensive travel to client sites, industry events, and exhibitions. This is a high-impact role offering the opportunity to directly influence revenue growth and market expansion.
Full right to work in the UK is essential.
Responsibilities
- Proactively identify and win new business across engine services, spare parts, engine sales, and electrical/control system solutions
- Develop strong relationships with new prospects and convert opportunities into long-term customers
- Qualify customer requirements and collaborate with technical/operations teams to support accurate solution delivery and quoting
- Drive the development of recurring service and parts contracts, moving beyond one-off sales
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date CRM records, including pipeline, activity, and opportunity tracking
- Attend client meetings, site visits, exhibitions, and industry events to generate new opportunities
- Work closely with internal teams (operations, technical, marketing) to deliver integrated client solutions
- Support marketing initiatives through market insight, campaign input, and follow-up on inbound leads
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and industry developments
- Identify opportunities through OEM partners and support partner relationships
- Provide regular reporting on pipeline performance, sales activity, and revenue progress
Requirements
- Proven track record in B2B sales, with clear evidence of winning new business
- Experience generating opportunities through proactive outreach (not account management focused)
- Experience managing a sales pipeline using CRM systems
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage your own activity levels
- Strong organisational skills and commercial awareness
- Willingness and flexibility to travel extensively across the UK
- Experience within marine, shipping, power generation, or industrial engineering sectors (Desirable)
- Knowledge of marine engine services, spare parts, or technical products
