Technical Superintendent (Containers) – Rotterdam

An established shipowner is seeking a Technical Superintendent to join its growing technical team. This is a straightforward, hands-on role supporting a modern container fleet, with responsibility for ensuring vessels are operated safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with regulatory and company standards. 
 
Key Responsibilities 

• Overseeing the technical management of assigned container vessels (approx. 3-4 ships)
• Ensuring safe, reliable, and cost-effective vessel operations
• Managing maintenance, repairs, and technical performance across the fleet
• Preparing and monitoring technical budgets, including cost control and reporting
• Planning and supporting dry dockings (typically every ~5 years)
• Liaising with ship staff, contractors, yards, and suppliers
• Supporting inspections and ensuring compliance with class, flag, and internal standards
• Investigating technical incidents and implementing corrective actions
• Providing regular technical updates to senior management

Fleet & Team Structure

• Fleet of ~6 container vessels 
• Technical team of 2 Superintendents and 1 Senior Superintendent
• Collaborative, lean team environment with clear ownership of vessels

Candidate Profile

• Previous sailing experience as a Chief Engineer is essential
• Shore-based experience as a Technical Superintendent is required
• Background on container or reefer vessels is highly desirable
• Happy to travel to Asia 3 – 4 times per year (2/3 days)
