Marine Insurance Broker – Hamburg

An independent marine insurance broker is looking to hire a Marine Insurance Broker to support its continued growth across the European market.
 
With a portfolio spanning inland and coastal risks across Europe, the business places a strong emphasis on long-term relationships, technical credibility, and a highly personal approach to client service. They are not a volume-driven broker and do not compete on price. Instead, they focus on delivering consistent, tailored solutions to a well-established client base.
 
This hire will play a key role in supporting existing business while enabling senior brokers to focus on further growth and client development.
 
The position offers broad exposure across H&M, P&I, war risks and cargo, making it well suited to someone who wants to build or expand their technical range rather than sit in a narrow specialism.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Support the placement and servicing of marine risks across H&M, P&I and associated lines
• Engage with underwriters across European and London markets
• Assist in structuring placements, preparing submissions, and negotiating terms
• Maintain and develop relationships with clients and insurers
• Contribute to renewals, new business enquiries, and ongoing portfolio management
• Attend client meetings and travel within Europe as required

Requirements

• Background in marine insurance, shipping, or a related commercial maritime field
• Experience in broking, underwriting, or chartering considered
• Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships
• Commercial awareness and willingness to engage with clients
• German and English language skills strongly preferred
