We’re working with a dry bulk owner in Hong Kong that’s looking to hire a Commercial Executive to join a lean commercial team. This is a hands-on role with real exposure to how chartering and S&P decisions get made. It suits someone early in their commercial career who wants to build out the analytical and market intelligence side of a shipping business, not just support it.
The client isn’t looking for someone who’s already made it. They’re looking for someone with good foundations, commercial curiosity, and the appetite to grow within a smaller platform.
The Role
Who We’re Looking For
Background matters less than mindset here. The client is open to candidates from a broking desk, a trading house, or the operator side, as long as the shipping fundamentals are in place and the interest in the analytical work is genuine.
You’re likely to be a good fit if you are:
Two to four years of relevant experience is the rough target. The role isn’t about what you’ve fixed so far. It’s about what you understand and what you want to build.
What This Role Isn’t
The client has been deliberate about this. They’re not looking for an experienced chartering manager. The budget has been allocated toward a stronger junior rather than a more senior profile whose expectations this seat couldn’t realistically meet. If you’re at that stage, this probably isn’t the right move. If you know someone who is, we’d welcome the introduction.
