Our client is a well-established, global ship management company with a strong reputation in the tanker sector. With operations spanning multiple international offices, the business manages a modern and expanding fleet and is recognised for its commitment to safety, operational excellence, and compliance.

The organisation is currently in a significant growth phase, with multiple vessels recently delivered and several more scheduled to join the fleet. This expansion has created a need to strengthen the shore-based marine team in Singapore.

Role Overview
The Marine Superintendent will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of a fleet of tankers. Working closely with onboard teams and shore-based departments, the role focuses on marine assurance, safety standards, and operational performance across assigned vessels.

You will join an established marine team, working alongside other Marine Superintendents across regional offices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the safe operation and navigation standards of 8-10 vessels
  • Ensure compliance with international maritime regulations (ISM, SOLAS, MARPOL, etc.)
  • Conduct vessel inspections, audits, and incident investigations
  • Monitor and drive continuous improvement in safety and operational performance
  • Provide guidance and support to Masters and senior onboard officers
  • Review and implement company policies, procedures, and best practices
  • Liaise with flag states, class societies, and external stakeholders as required
  • Support emergency response and crisis management when necessary
  • Contribute to pre-vetting preparation and attend vetting inspections where required

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous sailing experience as Master on VLCC or chemical tankers.
  • Prior shore-based experience as a Marine Superintendent is advantageous
  • Strong knowledge of international maritime regulations and tanker operations
  • Experience with vetting inspections and marine assurance processes
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
