A well-established, entrepreneurial tanker brokerage is seeking to hire an experienced Time Charter Tanker Broker or small team to join its platform in London or Athens.
The firm has a strong presence across tanker markets with particular depth in emerging trade flows, working closely with shipowners, oil majors, traders, and operators. The business offers a dynamic, non-bureaucratic environment with a clear focus on relationship-led, flow-driven chartering.
This hire is aimed at strengthening the firm’s time charter capabilities, complementing its existing spot presence.
Key Responsibilities
- Originate and execute time charter business across crude and/or clean petroleum product tankers
- Develop and maintain long-term relationships with shipowners, operators, and charterers
- Structure and negotiate period employment (short/medium/long-term TC deals)
- Advise clients on fleet deployment strategies, coverage, and market timing
- Provide forward-looking market insight, rate trends, and asset utilisation strategies
- Work closely with spot desks to identify TC opportunities arising from market dislocation or arbitrage
- Manage the full lifecycle of TC deals, including negotiation, execution, and follow-up
- Support and mentor junior brokers where applicable
Candidate Profile
- 5-10 years’ experience in tanker broking with a clear focus on time chartering
- Proven track record of TC fixtures and repeat business with key counterparties
- Strong relationships with owners and/or charterers active in period markets
- Solid understanding of fleet economics, utilisation, and market cycles
- Commercially minded with the ability to originate ideas, not just execute flow
- Comfortable operating in a lean, entrepreneurial platform
Team hire: Existing TC-focused team or portable book of business is highly attractive.
