Yacht Underwriter

A leading international marine insurance group is seeking a Yacht Underwriter to join its growing underwriting team based in Germany. The business is a well-established specialist within the recreational marine insurance market, with an extensive international presence and a long-standing reputation within the yacht and pleasure craft sector.

This is a broad underwriting role offering exposure across both standard and high-value yacht business, supporting a diverse international portfolio and working closely with overseas offices and stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions.

The position would suit an individual with prior yacht underwriting or yacht insurance broking experience who is looking to join a stable, growth-oriented organisation with strong long-term career prospects.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess and underwrite risks across sport boat and yacht insurance portfolios in line with internal underwriting guidelines.
• Analyse technical risk information and support pricing and underwriting decisions.
• Act as an underwriting contact for international offices and internal stakeholders.
• Assist with the development and refinement of underwriting guidelines, products and policy wordings.
• Support portfolio analysis, reporting and underwriting performance reviews.
• Contribute to product implementation and underwriting system developments.
• Participate in group-wide underwriting and operational projects.
• Maintain awareness of regulatory and compliance requirements relevant to international insurance operations.
• Collaborate with colleagues across underwriting, operations and international offices.

Requirements

• Previous experience within yacht underwriting or yacht insurance broking. Strong interest and understanding of the yacht and recreational marine insurance market.
• German language capability to at least B2 level is essential.
• Candidates must either already be based in Germany or open to relocating.
• Experience handling both standard and high-value yacht risks would be highly advantageous.
• Strong analytical and organisational skills with the ability to assess and communicate risk effectively.
• Comfortable working within an international environment and liaising with overseas stakeholders.
• Competency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Excellent communication skills in both German and English.
