Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Deputy Manager – Ship Planning & Service Management to support the efficient planning, coordination, and execution of vessel operations across our maritime network. This role is responsible for optimizing vessel schedules, enhancing service performance, and ensuring operational excellence while collaborating with internal stakeholders, port authorities, terminals, and service partners.
The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining reliable shipping services, improving operational efficiency, and supporting strategic initiatives within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the planning and management of vessel schedules, rotations, and service networks.
- Monitor service performance and identify opportunities to improve schedule reliability and operational efficiency.
- Coordinate with ports, terminals, agents, and operational teams to ensure smooth vessel operations.
- Support capacity planning, berth planning, and voyage optimization activities.
- Analyze operational data and prepare performance reports, KPIs, and management presentations.
- Identify and resolve service disruptions, operational bottlenecks, and scheduling conflicts.
- Collaborate with commercial, operations, and customer service teams to align service delivery with business objectives.
- Ensure compliance with relevant maritime regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
- Participate in strategic projects related to network optimization, digitalization, and process improvement.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and operational support to team members as required.
Requirements
- Sailed to Chief Officer on a container ship.
- Proven experience in vessel operations, ship planning, liner shipping, maritime logistics, or service management.
- Strong understanding of shipping schedules, vessel deployment, port operations, and maritime service networks.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret operational data and trends.
- Experience with shipping, logistics, or maritime planning systems is advantageous.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic operational environment.
- Demonstrated leadership capability and experience supervising or mentoring team members is preferred.
