Vessel Operator – Dry Bulk | Singapore
An established dry bulk operator with a global trading footprint is looking for an experienced operator to join their Singapore desk. They run large gearless tonnage across the major bulk routes and want someone who can hit the ground running.
This is an execution-focused role on a busy commercial desk. You’ll manage voyages from fixture to completion: port nominations, agent appointments, laytime, bunker management, and keeping the chartering team across every development. The tonnage you’ll work on sits in the upper range of the dry bulk market – large gearless vessels trading iron ore, coal, and grain across the Pacific, Indian Ocean, and Atlantic basins.
The role
You’re the operational link between the chartering desk, port agents, stevedores, and vessel Masters. Day-to-day that means voyage instructions, position monitoring, ETA management, and handling the back-and-forth with agents and terminals across multiple time zones simultaneously.
Demurrage and laytime are a regular part of the job. You’ll be expected to know your numbers, understand the charterparty, and push back when a claim doesn’t stack up.
P&L awareness matters. The desk moves fast and operators are expected to understand the commercial context behind a voyage, not just execute it.
Who fits
3–5 years as a vessel operator at a dry bulk owner, operator, or trading house. Solid hands-on experience across larger gearless tonnage specifically. Strong charterparty knowledge, the ability to manage multiple vessels without losing grip, and good written English for external communications.
