Marine Underwriter – Singapore

An established international marine insurer is seeking an experienced Marine Underwriter to join its growing Singapore team.
This is an opportunity to join a highly respected organisation with a strong global presence, offering excellent exposure to shipowners, brokers, and marine insurance professionals across Asia and beyond.
You will be responsible for managing and developing relationships with shipowners, brokers, and other industry stakeholders whilst supporting the underwriting and growth of the portfolio.
Key Responsibilities

• Underwriting and assessing new business opportunities
• Managing and renewing existing accounts
• Building and developing long-term client and broker relationships
• Supporting business development initiatives across the region
• Working closely with claims and technical teams on risk assessment and pricing
• Representing the organisation at client meetings, industry events, and conferences
• Regional travel as part of client and business development activities

Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years’ experience within marine insurance
• Experience in underwriting, broking, claims, or a related marine insurance discipline
• Strong commercial awareness and relationship-building skills
• Excellent written and spoken English
• Mandarin language skills would be advantageous due to the client base
• The ability to work in a structured, detail-oriented environment
• A proactive and professional approach to client service
• Candidates currently working within P&I Clubs, marine insurers, or marine broking houses are encouraged to apply
• Former seafarers who have moved into marine insurance and developed underwriting experience would also be of particular interest
• This position is based in Singapore and applicants must have the right to work in Singapore.
