An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Technical Superintendent to join a global leader in marine towage and offshore services. Reporting to the Contract Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective maintenance and technical management of an Emergency Towage Vessel (ETV), while maximising vessel availability and operational performance.
In addition to supporting Australian operations, you will also provide remote technical assistance to operations in Papua New Guinea, with occasional travel to site as required.
The successful candidate will be based in Australia, with a preference for candidates willing to reside in North Queensland. A company vehicle is provided.
Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure vessel maintenance activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and within budget.
  • Coordinate day-to-day technical operations and oversee planned maintenance programs.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
  • Generate and approve purchase orders, requisitions, and inspect delivered goods.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to onboard engineering teams.
  • Conduct vessel inspections and report technical status to senior management.
  • Investigate equipment failures, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Coordinate statutory surveys with flag state, classification societies, and regulatory authorities.
  • Ensure all vessel certifications remain compliant with regulatory and class requirements.
  • Plan and manage dry dockings, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
  • Supervise contractors and service providers during maintenance and repair activities.
  • Coordinate damage assessments and repairs in consultation with classification societies and insurers.
  • Support the implementation of technical improvements and fleet standards.
  • Maintain regular communication with assigned vessels and operational teams.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • 3-5 years’ experience as a Technical Superintendent or in a similar ship management role.
  • Experience managing marine maintenance projects and technical operations.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
  • A collaborative approach and commitment to high safety and operational standards.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound technical decisions.
