Dry Bulk Vessel Operator – London
Confidential search on behalf of a well-established shipowner/operator based in London, trading a fleet that includes dry bulk. This is a newly created seat in a commercial team that already fixes and operates well. They want someone who can step in and run dry bulk voyages from day one.
The role
- Sit across chartering, agents, masters, and technical managers to keep every fixture running to plan
- Build voyage orders, track port and regulatory restrictions, and keep the Master briefed throughout
- Handle freight and hire invoicing, chase disputes, and hand over to claims when needed
- Feed chartering what they need on live fixtures: intakes, cleaning plans, ETAs
- Make calls under pressure and know when to push a decision up the chain
What they’re looking for
- Genuine dry bulk operations experience, ideally 5 years or more, gained at a shipowner, operator, or major trading house (strong candidates with a bit less will still get a look)
- Comfortable working without someone checking in on routine calls
- Sharp commercial judgement and a track record of sorting disputes before they escalate
- Confident in Excel and IMOS or an equivalent system
- Clear written and spoken English
- Organised, methodical, and happy to put in the hours a commercial desk sometimes demands
Office-based in London, five days a week. Some evening and weekend availability comes with the territory, same as any commercial shipping seat.
Right company, strong fleet, genuine room to grow.
