Senior Cargo Broker – Netherlands

A leading international insurance broker is looking to hire a Senior Cargo Broker to join its established marine team in the Netherlands.
This opportunity is ideal for an experienced marine insurance professional with a strong background in Cargo broking who is looking to manage complex international programmes, advise multinational clients, and develop tailored marine cargo insurance solutions.
The successful candidate will play a key role in servicing and growing a portfolio of Cargo clients, managing placements across international markets, and delivering strategic insurance advice. Working within an experienced marine team, the role provides exposure to global trade, logistics, shipping, and complex cargo risks.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Manage and develop a portfolio of international Cargo insurance clients.
• Lead the placement and renewal of complex marine Cargo insurance programmes.
• Develop tailored broking strategies and negotiate with insurers to secure optimal coverage solutions.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, insurers, and other marine market stakeholders.
• Provide specialist advice on Cargo insurance structures, coverage considerations, and market developments.
• Prepare market submissions, assess insurer terms, and present recommendations to clients.
• Identify opportunities to enhance client relationships and support business growth initiatives.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across international offices to provide seamless client service.

 
Requirements

• Significant experience within marine insurance broking, with a strong focus on Cargo insurance.
• Proven experience managing international Cargo placements and complex client programmes.
• Strong understanding of marine Cargo risks, insurance structures, and the global marine insurance market.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
• Commercially minded with the ability to develop long-term client partnerships.
• Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively within a collaborative international environment.
• Fluent English and Dutch required.
