Our client is a leading global container shipping and logistics organisation with an expanding team in the UK. They are seeking an experienced Ship Planner & Alliance Coordinator to join their marine operations function.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced container shipping professional, particularly someone with a Chief Officer or marine operations background, to move into a shore-based role with significant international exposure.
The Role
The successful candidate will play a key role in the safe and efficient operation of a diverse fleet, including Ultra Large Container Ships (ULCS).
Key responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and managing the stowage of containers, including Dangerous Goods and oversized cargo.
  • Coordinating vessel schedules, fuel requirements and operational requirements.
  • Supporting the day-to-day operational management of vessels across a varied fleet.
  • Working closely with vessels, internal departments and international stakeholders.
  • Supporting the coordination and management of shipping alliances.
  • Communicating regularly with alliance partners across Europe and colleagues at the company’s headquarters in Asia.
  • Managing multiple priorities and responding effectively to changing vessel schedules and operational requirements.
  • Ensuring operational activities are completed accurately, safely and within required timescales.

About You
The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong container vessel marine operations experience, or a background as a Chief Officer on container vessels.
  • A good understanding of container vessel operations and stowage.
  • Strong computer skills and confidence using a variety of Microsoft Office and other business applications.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise competing workloads around vessel schedules.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • The confidence to communicate effectively with colleagues and business partners across different countries and cultures.
  • A proactive, analytical and solutions-focused approach.
  • The ability to remain calm and accurate in a fast-paced operational environment.

Mandarin and/or Cantonese language skills would be advantageous but are not essential.
