Marine Insurance Technician – London

  • Europe
  • Insurance Broking & Underwriting

An established international marine insurance broker with more than 150 years of experience in the maritime sector is looking to appoint a Marine Insurance Technician to support its growing London broking team.

With an international network of offices across Europe, Asia, the Middle East and North America, the business provides marine insurance solutions to clients and vessel owners worldwide.

This is a newly created position within the London office and would suit an experienced technician who enjoys the technical side of marine insurance and is looking to remain in a specialist technical role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and administrative support to the London broking team.
  • Set up files and manage insurance contract documentation across Cargo, Hull & Machinery, P&I and other marine insurance products.
  • Maintain and validate contract and portfolio data, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Liaise with brokers, underwriters, insurers and international clients.
  • Manage premium accounting, invoicing and payment reconciliations.
  • Support the placement and renewal of marine insurance programmes.
  • Work closely with broking teams across the wider international business.
  • Monitor and maintain compliance with applicable regulatory and market requirements.
  • Contribute to the development of the technical function within the London office.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Marine Insurance Technician within the Lloyd’s and London insurance market.
  • Strong knowledge of Hull, Cargo and/or P&I insurance.
  • Proven experience with premium processing and technical insurance administration.
  • Strong understanding of London Market processes and systems, ideally including PPL, Whitespace and Xchanging.
  • Accurate, organised and proactive approach, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in an international environment.
  • Legally authorised to work in the UK.
  • Ideally someone who wants to remain within a long-term technical role, rather than viewing the position as a route into broking.

Why This Role?
This is an opportunity to join a growing London operation and play an important role in establishing and developing its technical function.

As this is a new position for the London office, the successful candidate will be able to bring their existing technical knowledge and experience to the business, helping to shape processes and best practice rather than joining an established technical function.
