Marine Insurance Producer – Remote

  • Insurance Broking & Underwriting

An established and growing international marine insurance business is looking to appoint an experienced Marine Insurance Producer to help develop its commercial marine portfolio across Europe and international markets.
The business has a long-standing presence within the marine insurance sector, with an established client base across the US, UK and international markets. Its portfolio spans both recreational and commercial marine insurance, with commercial marine representing a significant and growing area of the business.

This is an opportunity for an experienced producer who wants greater autonomy, flexibility and earning potential than a traditional corporate brokerage environment can offer.

The business already has established market relationships and a pipeline of opportunities, but is looking for someone who can bring their own relationships, market access and ideas and play a meaningful role in shaping the next stage of its growth.

The role is based remotely, with flexibility around location and working arrangements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and grow a portfolio of commercial marine insurance business across European and international markets.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities across Hull & Machinery and wider commercial marine.
  • Develop long-term relationships with shipowners, operators, brokers, insurers and other marine stakeholders.
  • Utilise existing market relationships and identify new sources of business and capacity.
  • Manage the full business development process from initial relationship through to placement and ongoing client management.
  • Work with the wider team to develop bespoke insurance solutions for complex commercial marine risks.
  • Identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships and develop new areas of business.
  • Contribute to the continued development of the company’s European and international marine strategy.
  • Work collaboratively with account management and servicing colleagues to ensure new business is transitioned effectively and clients receive a high level of service.
  • Take an entrepreneurial approach to developing a book rather than relying solely on established corporate processes and lead-generation structures.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Marine Insurance Broker or Business Development professional.
  • Strong knowledge of Hull & Machinery is highly desirable, as well as other Marine lines.
  • Experience within international marine insurance, ideally with an established European, Mediterranean or wider international network.
  • Existing relationships with marine insurers, Lloyd’s markets, shipowners, operators or other relevant industry contacts.
  • Demonstrable ability to generate and develop new business.
  • Strong commercial awareness and an entrepreneurial approach to business development.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a geographically dispersed team.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building and negotiation skills.
  • A flexible mindset and willingness to operate outside of a traditional corporate brokerage structure.
  • A portable book of business would be advantageous but is not essential. Strong market access and relationships will also be considered.
  • Candidates with restrictions around an existing book, such as notice periods or restrictive covenants, will still be considered where there is a viable route to transition.

Why This Role?

This is not simply an opportunity to move from one large broker to another.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to build something of their own within an established international marine insurance business.

The business offers a high degree of autonomy, remote working and flexibility around how and where you work, alongside a remuneration structure designed to reward production.
