Team Lead, Vessel Operations (Bulk)- Singapore

We are working with an established international commodity group seeking an experienced dry bulk operations professional to lead a small team of Vessel Operators within its shipping division.
 
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong time charter operations experience who is ready to take on broader leadership responsibility. You will oversee the successful execution of dry bulk voyages, support and develop the operations team, and help drive improvements in operational performance, risk management and profitability.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a team of Vessel Operators, creating a collaborative and accountable working environment.
• Oversee the end-to-end execution of dry bulk voyages, ensuring operations are safe, efficient, compliant and commercially optimised.
• Provide direction and support on day-to-day operational challenges.
• Act as the senior escalation point for complex operational matters and critical decisions.
• Coordinate effectively with freight traders, shipowners, masters, agents and other stakeholders.
• Monitor operational and commercial performance, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability.
• Ensure compliance with charter party obligations, internal policies and relevant operational requirements.
• Identify and mitigate operational risks, supporting the prevention and resolution of claims.
• Manage workload distribution and help build capability across the team through training, mentoring and knowledge sharing.
• Drive improvements to operational processes, controls and working practices.
• Support the implementation of new systems, digital tools and standardised procedures.

Candidate Requirements

• A minimum of seven years’ experience in dry bulk time charter operations.
• Strong knowledge of voyage execution, charter party principles and the technical aspects of vessel operations.
• Previous experience leading, mentoring or supervising others would be highly advantageous.
• Strong commercial awareness and sound decision-making skills.
• The ability to remain effective under pressure and manage competing priorities.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills.
• A proactive, resilient and solutions-focused approach.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• A degree in Shipping, Maritime Studies or a related discipline.
• Fluent written and spoken English.

This role would suit an experienced dry bulk operator who combines strong operational knowledge with the ability to lead people, improve processes and deliver positive commercial outcomes.
