Vessel Operator – Dry Bulk 
Location: Singapore

We are working with a well-established international shipping and trading business looking to add a Vessel Operator to its dry bulk team in Singapore.

This is a good opportunity for an operator who has built a solid foundation in dry bulk operations and now wants to join a commercially focused environment with exposure to an experienced international team.

The culture within the team is very good, with a collaborative approach between Operations, Chartering and the wider commercial business. The company is also keen to develop people internally, so there is genuine room for someone to grow over the longer term rather than remaining purely within a day-to-day vessel operating position.

The role You will take responsibility for the end-to-end operation of an allocated portfolio of dry bulk vessels, working closely with shipowners, Masters, charterers, traders and colleagues across the wider business.

Responsibilities will include:

• Managing the day-to-day operation of Voyage and Time Charter vessels
• Taking ownership of voyages from fixture through to completion
• Liaising with shipowners, Masters, charterers and the commercial team regarding voyage instructions
• Managing post-fixture activities
• Maintaining close relationships with customers, suppliers and other external counterparties
• Working closely with Chartering and Commercial colleagues
• Coordinating with international teams and desks
• Contributing to improvements in operational processes and ways of working

What we are looking for Ideally, you will have:

• Around 2-4 years’ experience within dry bulk vessel operations
• Experience operating Voyage and/or Time Charter vessels
• Experience managing a busy vessel portfolio, ideally around 8-10 vessels at any one time
• A good understanding of dry bulk trade flows and the wider freight market
• Strong communication and relationship-management skills
• A commercially minded approach to vessel operations
• Good systems knowledge, with IMOS experience strongly preferred
• Fluent English

Previous seagoing experience would be useful but is not essential.
