Marine Insurance Broker (Hull & War) – London

A specialist marine insurance brokerage is looking to hire a Marine Insurance Broker to join its team in the City of London, with a focus on Hull & Machinery and War Risk insurance.
 
This opportunity is ideal for a marine insurance professional with experience in H&M broking who is looking to develop their expertise within the London market and play an active role in growing an established book of business.
 
The successful candidate will be responsible for broking and placing Hull & Machinery and War Risk risks, managing renewals and new business, and building strong relationships with clients and underwriters. The role offers exposure to specialist marine risks, with the opportunity to contribute directly to the continued growth of the H&M portfolio.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Broke and place Hull & Machinery and War Risk insurance, negotiating terms and pricing with underwriters.
• Manage a portfolio of H&M business, including renewals, new business and mid-term adjustments.
• Play an active role in developing and growing the Hull & Machinery book of business.
• Act as a key point of contact for clients, providing a professional and responsive broking service.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with H&M and War Risk underwriters across the London market.
• Ensure accurate record-keeping and compliance with FCA and Lloyd’s market requirements.
• Work independently while collaborating with colleagues to support the growth of the wider marine insurance business.

 
Requirements

• Around three years’ experience in marine insurance broking, ideally with a strong focus on Hull & Machinery.
• Previous experience placing War Risk insurance.
• Good understanding of the marine insurance market, including underwriting appetite, pricing and placement processes.
• Established or developing relationships with H&M and War Risk underwriters.
• Strong negotiation, communication and client relationship management skills.
• A proactive and commercially minded approach, with the ability to manage business independently.
• Cert CII or a willingness to work towards a relevant professional qualification would be advantageous.
