Commercial Manager- Offshore- UAE
We are currently working with one of the leading private sector Ship Owners / Ship Operators based in Abu Dhabi with the current fleet strength totalling seventy vessels mainly consisting of Landing Crafts, Tug Boats, Cargo Barges, Crew Boats, Passenger Boats, Offshore Supply Vessels, Offshore Construction Support Vessels and MPP / Project Carriers employed in the worldwide trade. Our client is in the process of hiring a Commercial Manager to assist in the development of new clients and projects and able to manage the process of employment of the company’s assets. This role will focus predominantly in the OSV market and someone with knowledge experience with AHTS, PSVs, OSVs etc… would be ideal for the position. The ideal profile will currently be working as an Offshore Charterer or Broker ideally with experience in the Middle East. it will be important that this hire can demonstrate broad commercial awareness and is able to think strategically in terms of the long term employment plans for the company’s fleet conducting risk/ reward analysis whilst managing long term customer relationships. Chartering Manager- Paris

We are currently working in an international commodity trader that primarily function in the grains market as they are currently in the process of hiring a Chartering Manager to join their team based in Paris.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Charterer to join a company who’s volumes are increasing. The role will primarily follow the grains market providing traders with freight estimates and advising on ship availability and cost whilst negotiating the fixture of handy-supramax ships for their freight requirements on an international basis.

A secondary function would be to liaise with the operational and financial teams to execute the voyage, handle and check laytime calcs and demurrage claims, advise on any claims that might arise during and after the voyage.

For this role you will ideally need to have 5-10 years experience in chartering or vessel operations. The most likely scenario would be for our client to hire someone that already has chartering experience but they are open to considering candidates with an operations background that are looking to transition into chartering.

French and English language skills would be highly advantageous for this role.

Dry Chartering Broker- New York

We are currently working with a growing broking business who are looking for a Chartering Broker to join their team based out of New York. This role would not be a competitive Brokerage position as our client has several exclusive accounts and are panel Brokers for other clients so what they require is someone experienced that is able to service the business they already have.

A Broker/ Charterer that can bring some accounts with them would be an added advantage but it would not be a requirement for the position. Our client does a lot of business in the fertilizer market and are not limited to dry cargo as also manages tankers and gas carriers for some of their clients

Our client are members of BIMCO, ASBA and IFA and the team they have in place are a tightly knit group of experienced Brokers so would probably suit someone that has solid experience in this field and an slot into their current setup.

Chartering Manager- Atlanta

We are currently working with one of the major international operators in the drybulk/ project cargo market with a large fleet of open hatch carriers who’re in the process of recruiting an experienced Chartering Manager for their team in Atlanta.

This hire will be responsible for the commercial management of the company assets, ensuring the vessels are competitively fixed as well as strategically developing new customer relations and generating new accounts and revenue streams.

It will be essential that you have proven commercial experience within the shipping industry and a strong awareness of contractual clauses to complement the core commercial skills necessary to be a successful Chartering Manager. Ideally you will have 3+ years of experience in a similar role, ideally gained in the project cargo/ bulk/ breakbulk markets.

Commercial Executive (Offshore)- Netherlands/ Monaco

This is a great opportunity for someone with natural strengths in sales/ BD/ negotiation to join their team either from their office in Monaco or the Netherlands.

Job Scope
• Search business prospects in the Country and in neighbouring countries.
• Provide business presentations to clients, partners and other external and internal stakeholders.
• Manage tender preparation and provide full back-up support on tender-related matters.
• Follow-up Contracts with Clients.
• Report to Head Quarters.
• Duties and responsibilities
• Identify and contact potential clients in the area.
• Travel regularly and develop commercial prospects.
• Inform daily the Line Manager about prospects and expected clients’ requirements.
• Provide Line Manager with information about the competition.
• Nurture relationships with clients, ship-owners and other business partners.
• Manage vendor registration process with new potential clients.
• Receive Calls for Tenders from Clients.
• Receive offers from Vendors (Ship-owners).
• Prepare tenders and liaise with other departments (Marine, QHSE, Tax, Logistics, Finance) to verify they are in compliance with clients’ expectations.
• Review drafts of tenders with Management and obtain approval prior to submission.
• Submit tenders to Clients in a timely and professional manner and ensure their follow-up.
• Keep track of ongoing requirements and tenders submitted.
• Negotiate contracts with Ship-owners and Charterers.
• Provide all necessary information about signed contracts to relevant departments (Marine, QHSE, Tax, Logistics, Finance).
• Validate invoices to Charterers and invoices from Ship-owners.
• Assist Finance on payment of invoices by clients.
• Provide business analysis and presentations.
• Ensure all data on contracts and vessels are updated in a timely manner in Company’s Management System (PSP).

Skills and Requirements
• Diploma in marketing/commercial affairs and/or international business.
• 5 years’ experience in a sales/marketing/commercial function, preferably in the oil/shipping sector.
• Meticulous and thorough.
• Excellent computer skills – Pack office.
• English and French languages required. (french if based in Monaco)

Tanker Broker- Geneva

We are currently partnered exclusively with a growing Tanker Brokerage based in Geneva that is looking to bring in a Tanker Broker to join their team.

This is a great opportunity to join a small but tightly knit team that cover the clean and dirty tanker markets. it would be ideally suited to someone with 3-5 years’ Broking exposure but this doesn’t necessarily need to be gained in the Tanker market it could be someone from the Dry or Container market that would like to make a transition.

You will join a team of 4 experienced Brokers that will be able to provide support to Brokers that are still learning and developing their accounts and whilst someone that can bring some business with them would be a bonus this isn’t required as our client has accounts they can pass over. What is crucial is that our client is able to find someone that will suit the team well and will be a good long term fit for their setup.

Candidates don’t need to be based in Geneva and our client can look at those that would be relocation prospects.

S&P Broker- Greece

Head of Commercial- Hong Kong

We are currently working with a bulk shipowner based in Asia that is looking for a Head of Commercial to oversee their commercial activities leading a small team of chartering and operations staff. This would be a great opportunity to join a prestigious shipping group with ambition to grow in the coming years.

In this role you would assume responsibility for managing the freight portfolio and take the lead on the companies chartering strategy. You will also support the COO/ Chairman in matters related to Sale and Purchase and provide guidance to the operations staff.

As our client is looking for someone that can lead a small team of both Chartering and Operations professionals it will be important that you have a seafaring background on bulk carriers in order to support the ops staff on more technical matters in relation to commercial operations. Someone that has some experience in sale and purchase matters would also be at a distinct advantage for this position. This role would be ideally suited to a Master Mariner that has come ashore in the last ten years and gained broad commercial experience in the bulk market.
